Mark Unsworth created Islay Studios in the year 2000 after moving to the island from the West Midlands where he had a successful career as a press & PR photographer. Searching for a slower paced way of life led him to move to Islay that didn’t have a professional photographer at the time. Since then he has worked for all of the whisky distilleries on the island as well as completing over 250 weddings. This is rounded off by working for the Scottish national press on various assignments as required.

Mark: “I have a strong passion for monochrome photography, back in the day that’s where we all started and learnt our craft and that is still with me. I’m a traditional photographer and see the landscape or the seascapes in a traditional way, all of my work is how the camera saw the scene with no additional post processing to enhance or change what I saw.
